Areas of specialisation
Evaluation and treatment recommendations for infestations by biological contaminants (insects and fungi) for the following cultural heritage sectors: archives, libraries, museums and historical monuments.
Preventive and curative conservation for heritage collections: archives and libraries.
Establishment of research programmes:
- Understanding infestation and reinfestation of easel paintings relined with paste adhesives by Stegobium paniceum
- Substitute for ethylene oxide gas for the decontamination of heritage works.
- Substitute for methyl bromide gas to be used in the disinsectisation of heritage collections
Deployment of a geographic information system and an intercollaborative intranet portal devoted to infestation issues.
External activities
Regularly invited as a guest lecturer for courses, seminars and conferences offered by the Restoration Department of the Institut National du Patrimoine (I.N.P.), the Association des Bibliothécaires Français (A.B.F.), the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (I.R.H.T. – Institut de Recherche et d'Histoire des Textes), the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Sciences de l'Information et des Bibliothèques (E.N.S.S.I.B.), Centre National de la Fonction Publique Territoriale (C.N.F.P.T.) of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, and the Centre Régional de Formation aux Carrières des Bibliothèques (C.R.F.C.B.)
Participation at the request of the Direction Régionale des Affaires Culturelles (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur) in the Plan d'Action pour le Patrimoine Ecrit (PAPE): fundamental principles of preventive conservation and rehabilitation plans (risk prevention and emergency plans).
Previous positions
2000–2002: Responsible for the computerised scheduling of all conservation activities (microfilming, mechanised binding, hand binding, maintenance, handling and restoration) for all sites of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (Sablé-sur-Sarthe, Marne-la-Vallée, Paris). Coordinator of strategic planning workshops: use of mechanised binding and preventive conservation.
1995–2000: Supervisor of the restoration workshop of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Marne-la-Vallée.
1993–1995: Deputy Project Manager (Conservation) and Restoration Consultant, Library Science Department, Bibliothèque de France.
1988–1993: Freelance book restorer (Maîtrise de Sciences et Techniques, Université de Paris), with clients in both the private and public sectors.
Published articles
Contributed to the development of Mémogravure 001: L'Affaire Stegobium, an interactive CD- ROM including a 33-page teacher's guide, produced by the C.I.C.R.P. as part of its educational outreach activities in 2006.
